For every week, I will post homework assignments all due on Sunday evening at 5 p.m.

There will be two exams (on Top Hat, 15% each), and two essays (on D2L, 20% each; I’ll post essay questions on D2L), all online. The rest of the grade will come from your responses to the homework questions posted on Top Hat (30%).

Week 4 of April 4: We read: Nibelungenlied:1-18 (numbers all refer to the chapters, so chapters 1-18, etc.)

Week 5 of April 11: Please read: Nibelungenlied: 19-28;

Week 6 of April 18: Nibelungenlied: 26-39; and “The Tumbler”, Our Lady’s Tumbler. As background, as part of your homework, see, for instance, Le Thoronet (photos); you are required to watch Le Thoronet (video I, with speaker) (video II, only music in the background) (video III, with Gregorian chant). Read this article: A. Classen, “The Human Quest for Happiness and Meaning”  in Athens Journal of Humanities and Meaning, you’ll need it for the assignment.

Week 7 of April 25: We finish with The Tumbler. Then please read Boethius, Introduction to Boethius. and Books I-II, 2nd essay due, April 30, 8 p.m. Top hat questioned are already assigned

I will post exam questions on May 2.

 2nd exam, comprehensive, May 3, due at 6 p.m., on Top Hat.

Students are responsible for checking on their grades posted on D2L. After 10 school days, no further review is possible.

Final Grade Review: If there might be a problem with your grade, you can ask me for a review until May 10, 12 p.m. Beyond that, there will not be any opportunity to revisit your grade.
