This research uses seismic wavefield simulations from realistic rupture models of large Himalayan earthquakes to understand the relationships between rupture properties, topographic wavefield amplification, and coseismic landslide characteristics. The figure below from Dunham et al. (2022) shows the multiple interactions between the modeled seismic wavefield from the 2015 Gorkha earthquake and the ridge adjacent to the Langtang Valley which was the source of a massive coseismic landslide that killed ~350 people.
