Martha joined the Regenerative Neurobiology Neuroelectronics Laboratory in 2024 as a Senior Laboratory Manager, under the direct supervision of Dr. Mark VanDyke in the Biomedical Engineering Dearment at The University of Arizona. She obtained her BS degree in Biology from University of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, where she studied the anatomy of LRHP expressing neurons in the rat hypothalamus. She joined the laboratory of Dr. Carol Phelps in the department of Anatomy at Tulane University as a Laboratory Technician. She then moved to Dallas Texas where she joined the laboratory of Dr. George Smith in the Department of Anesthesiology and later with Drs. Mary Gary, Scott Smith, and Jerry Mitchel in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she worked for 25 years. She provided histological and molecular technical support, and laboratory management including purchasing and regulatory compliance. She currently shares that expertise with the RNNL group assisting in all research projects.  

She enjoys exercise, healthy foods and relaxation.
