Kareem is a Biomedical Engineering PhD student at RNNL at the University of Arizona. He started his path to neural engineering at Purdue University in auditory neurophysiology to improve listening in noisy environments, obtaining his bachelor’s degree there. He carried out his master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Brown University, where he focused on characterizing gold nanoparticles for use in genetics-free near-infrared (NIR) neural stimulation. Kareem’s current research focuses on developing and testing regenerative peripheral neural interfaces for amputees with advanced neuroprosthetics to restore motor control and sensory feedback.
