1st Year PhD Student
Paola joined the Regenerative Neurobiology Neuroelectronics Laboratory in 2024 as a PhD student in the Biomedical Engineering program at The University of Arizona. She obtained her BS degree in Biochemical Engineering from Instituto Politecnico Nacional (IPN) in Mexico City. During her undergraduate tenure she conducted research in the laboratory of microencapsulation: interactions, structure, and function at the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biologicas (ENCB) at IPN. Further enriching her expertise, she undertook summer internships at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), where she contributed to projects aimed at advancing the development of conductive electrospun polymer platforms for stem-cell derived cardiomyocyte maturation and injectable biomaterials for treating pelvic floor disorders. Her current research focuses on enhancing the efficacy of long-gap nerve regeneration through the implementation of growth factors.
