Shane Holmes is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arizona. He proudly works in the Regenerative Neurobiology and Neuroelectronics Lab. His initial interest in neuroengineering stemmed from his personal experiences with chronic tinnitus and his enjoyment of electronics during his undergraduate studies at California State University, Stanislaus. His current research involves analyzing neural data collected from regenerative peripheral interfaces, with the goal of applying machine learning methodologies to develop novel peripheral neural interfaces that monitor the regeneration of peripheral nerves in patients. In his free time, you can find him at the gym, spending time with family and friends, or working on his personal projects.
