PFFP 311: Applied Family Investment Planning and Savings Strategies

This course is designed to familiarize students with the understanding and evaluation of investment options, plus the risks and rates of return of each type of investment.  The course also incorporates, among other topics, cash flow management, time value of money, measurement of investment returns, investment strategies, asset allocation and portfolio diversification, and alternative investments.

PFFP 476: Retail Financial Services

This course introduces students to the retail financial services industry, including the products and services available to consumers. The course focuses on retail credit/consumer loans (e.g., student loans, credit cards, mortgages), payments system (e.g. debit cards, e-money, and bitcoin), other banking services, and insurance products (auto, home, life, and health insurance). Additional topics discussed include interest rates and rates of return, investment products, government regulation, customer relationship management, and the behavioral underpinnings of spending, borrowing, and saving decisions in the financial services industry. We also discuss current articles relating to retail finance and its effects on consumer behavior and well-being.
